ResQsupply Sponges provides unprecedented fast hemostasis for traumatic bleeding injuries in pre-hospital emergency and battlefield situations.

+ Safe and Faster Bleeding Control:

Unique biotechnology initiates both the intrinsic and the extrinsic coagulation pathways which work independently to achieve faster hemostasis.

+ Cost Effective:

Lower cost than other alternatives while also requires fewer material to control severe bleeding

+ Laboratory studies:

Show rapid clot formation in normal and coagulation -deficient blood, and also works in cold.

+ Absorbs up to 18,000%

Of its own weight of fluid within the first 4 minutes, dramatically promoting clotting and minimizing loss of blood.

A DEEPER DIVE

The ResQsupply hemostatic sponge stands out as a revolutionary tool for hemorrhage control. This easy-to-use sponge employs a multi-pronged approach to rapidly stop bleeding, making it ideal for pre-hospital settings and first aid situations. Let's delve deeper into the science behind this innovative product.

COMPOSITION:

Sodium Polyacrylate:

Sodium Polyacrylate: This key component boasts a highly absorbent molecular structure. Imagine tiny sponges within the material, each with an incredible thirst for fluids. These "micro-sponges" rapidly soak up blood plasma and other liquid components, leaving behind a concentrated pool of red blood cells, platelets, and clotting factors. This concentrated environment significantly accelerates clot formation, plugging the wound and stopping blood flow.

Chitosan Cross-linked with Polyethylene Glycol (PEG):

Chitosan, derived from chitin (a component of crustacean shells), plays a crucial role. Its positively charged amine groups act like tiny magnets, attracting the negatively charged red blood cells in the blood. This attraction promotes the clumping or aggregation of red blood cells, another essential step in clot formation. Notably, this mechanism works independently of platelets and the body's usual clotting factors, making it potentially beneficial for individuals with clotting disorders. PEG, on the other hand, functions as a cross-linking agent, ensuring the structural integrity of the sponge even after absorbing fluids.

Sodium Bicarbonate:

This common ingredient, also known as baking soda, serves a clever purpose here. It acts as a foaming agent, creating a porous network of tiny air pockets within the sponge. This porous structure maximizes the surface area available for blood absorption, further enhancing the sponge's effectiveness.

HEMOSTATIC MECHANISMS:

Concentration via Absorption:

The rapid absorption of blood fluid by sodium polyacrylate concentrates clotting factors and red blood cells at the injury site. This concentrated environment significantly accelerates clot formation, plugging the wound and stopping blood flow.

Pressure Transmission and Adhesion:

As the sponge absorbs fluids, it transforms from a dry structure into a gel-like substance. This gel exhibits two crucial properties: adhesion and structural integrity. The gel firmly adheres to the bleeding point, sealing the wound and preventing further blood loss. Additionally, the gel's strength allows it to effectively transmit pressure applied from outside the wound (such as from a bandage). This external pressure further aids in stopping bleeding.

These sponges are engineered using a base of chitosan to which sodium polyacrylate is grafted, and the entire matrix is cross-linked with methacrylic anhydride-modified polyethylene glycol. This composition enhances the structural flexibility and elasticity of the sponges, crucial traits for effective application on varied wound topographies.

A key characteristic of the ResQsupply sponges is their exceptional fluid absorption capacity, capable of absorbing up to 180 times their weight in under 200 seconds. This property is pivotal in trauma scenarios where rapid action is necessary. The sponges expedite hemostasis predominantly by absorbing excess fluid, thereby concentrating blood cells and clotting factors at the injury site, which facilitates the natural coagulation cascade more rapidly than traditional methods.

The effectiveness of these sponges has been validated through rigorous testing, including thromboelastography and animal models, specifically a rabbit lethal extremity arterial bleeding model. The results indicate superior hemostatic performance when compared to traditional products like zeolite granules, kaolin gauze, and chitosan granules, with marked improvements in clotting times and overall survival rates.

Moreover, the sponges are designed to adhere to wet tissues, ensuring that they remain in place once applied, which is beneficial for maintaining pressure and securing the wound area during patient transport or until more definitive medical interventions can be administered.

The structural integrity of the sponges is maintained by their unique porous architecture, which not only supports the absorption and retention of large volumes of blood but also distributes applied pressure evenly, thereby enhancing their utility in high-pressure bleeding scenarios.

Visual documentation within the study illustrates the functionality of the sponges, from their deployment in active bleeding scenarios to their role in stabilizing the wound environment, making them an indispensable tool in emergency medical kits and potentially changing the landscape of first-line response to severe hemorrhage in trauma care.
